TechNote 5010-EMU
5010 Emulation and Interface Settings
To determine the emulation and interface settings:
- Take the printer offline and press the Test key.
- The printer will generate a test page.
There are three possible emulations:
- HP LaserJet Plus
Under the 'SUMMARY SHEET" at the top of the page will be displayed 'HP Plus Emulation'-
use the H-P LaserJet Plus driver that ships with Windows.
- IBM Graphics Printer
Listed under DIP SWITCH 3 STATUS, switch number 8 will be listed as IBM GP. Use the IBM Graphics
driver that ships with Windows.
- Diablo 630
Listed under DIP SWITCH 3 STATUS, switch number 8 will be listed as Diablo 630. The Diablo
630 is a daisywheel printer- under Windows, use the Generic/Text Only driver. It is recommended to remove the emulation
board and change DIP Switch 33-8 to set the printer to the IBM GP emulation.
Interface options
- Under DIP SWITCH 3 STATUS, switch number 7 controls the interface type- parallel or serial.
- Under DIP SWITCH 2 STATUS is listed the serial port settings- set the switches as needed.
