Consumables and Preventative Maintenance
To maintain image quality and proper operation, various supplies and parts of the printer are required to be cleaned and replaced periodically. This note expands and supplements the user level maintenance refered to in GEK-89470, microLaser 400 Operations.

Cleaning the Erase Lamp Assembly
The Erase Lamp must be cleaned when the Drum is replaced, or when print quality is unacceptable.

Toner Waste Bottle Replacement
The Toner Waste Bottle must be replaced when a bottle of Toner is added. Failing to replace the Waste Bottle can cause print quality problems and can damage the printer.

Printing Stops
The printer stops printing. The hard drive icon on the display is lit, indicating spooled data.

Black Line on Edge of Page
The page prints with a black line along the edge closest to the front of the printer.

Toner Dumping

Any of the following symptoms are experienced:

  • Streaks appear on the printed job.
  • Excessive toner in the transfer unit area.
  • Damage to the drum, especially scoring around the end towards the back of the printer. A black line will print on the edge of the page.
  • The printer hangs while printing with the DISK indicator active.
  • The printer display shows ENGINE ERROR 111.
