Route sales combines the processes and applications of both pre-sales and delivery. In addition, when the delivery driver does not know the exact amount the retailer will order, they load the truck with an amount of goods based on the retailer’s order history. At the store, the delivery driver takes a new order (pre-sell function), which he or she immediately delivers from the truck’s inventory. Finally, the driver generates an invoice that includes the new sales order and adjustments and leaves it with the customer.
Inventory Management. Each day the delivery driver needs to make sure that proper inventory is loaded into the truck so there is no shortage at the time of delivery. At the time of delivery the retailer may return items, which need to be tracked for accounting purposes.
