7612 Series - Manual Tray Selection

Summary: On many page printers, a single sheet inserted into the manual slot will have precedence over any other tray selection. The mL17 and 7612 have a built in MultiPurpose (MP)/ manual feed tray. By default, this tray is in the MP mode, and is considered to be a second paper tray selection, and not a manual feed selection.

Solution: To switch the MP Tray to manual mode:

• Take the printer off-line.
• Press SHIFT and FEEDER- the display shows FEEDER=AUTO.
• If it is not set to AUTO, then press SET, then press UP arrow until the display shows FEEDER=AUTO, then press SET.
• Press UP arrow until the display shows MP FIRST=OFF.
• Press SET.
• Press UP arrow until the display shows MP FIRST=ON.
• Press SET.
• Press SEL to place the printer on-line.

Note: for this to operate correctly, both Tray 1 and the MP feeder must be set to the same paper size.
