DRAM Memory For the D Series Controllers

Summary: RAM is used to expand the operating memory of the printer. Increasing RAM can allow the use of larger paper sizes, duplexing and higher graphics resolution. This note documents the options and configurations, and illustrates the various versions of memory used.

Cautions:

Not all vendors have products that meet GENICOM's requirements. The correct memory SIMMs appear as above.

Kingston no longer manufactures the Type A 32 MB SIMM. This version of the SIMM was a special build for GENICOM. The replacement SIMM listed by Kingston will not work!

The use of unqualified memory may cause operational issues, including:

  • random displays of SERVICE ERROR 02 and SERVICE ERROR 03
  • dropping characters at random
  • adding square boxes to text
  • no display on power up
  • printing black pages on power up or other odd symptoms.
