Resolution:
CAUTION: Observe all ESD Precautions during this operation.
Failure to observe these precautions may result in damage to the printer.
Print the current configuration:
- In the off-line state, press MENU.
- Press the UP ARROW key until the LCD panel displays PRINT STATUS.
- Press ENTER- the display shows CONFIG.
- Press ENTER to print the current configuration.
- The display shows FORMATS.
- Press ENTER to print the formats- the display shows SYSTEM.
- Press ENTER to print the system configuration.
Access the control board on the printer.
- Unplug the printer.
- Remove the Automatic Sheet Feeder (ASF), if installed.
- Remove the ASF cover (Item 1).
- Remove the four screws securing the back cover (one on the left side, one
on the right side, and two on the rear) (Item 2).
- Remove the rear cover by pulling it from the rear (Item 3).
The EPROMs are now visible on the main board.
3460 and 3480
Remove the applicable EPROM.
- There are two EPROMs. One or both may be replaced.
- The Program EPROM is located in U108- the label on the chip will have a -G20
- The Font EPROM is located in U50- the label on the chip will have a -G50.
Install the replacement EPROM.
- Ensure the notch in the chip faces to the right of the board.

Remove the EPROM located in U???
Install the replacement EPROM.
- Ensure the notch in the chip faces to the right of the board.
Replace the cover.
Reinitialize the printer to factory defaults:
- Turn off the printer’s power.
- Press and hold the LINE FEED and FF/LOAD keys.
- While holding these keys, turn on the printer’s power.
- The display shows INITIAL MENU.
- Release the LINE FEED and FF/LOAD keys- the display shows INITIALIZE
- Press ENTER- the display shows INITIALIZE > N
- Press the UP ARROW key until the LCD panel displays INITIALIZE> DOM.
- The display will show INITIALIZING for a few seconds and then
change to ALIGNMENT.
- Exit the Initialize Menu by pressing MENU.
Setup the printer configuration using the status printouts.
