3900 series - Prints In Auto Tear Off Mode

PROBLEM: Auto Tear Off is enabled. The printer enters Auto Tear Off mode, but the paper does not retract on receipt of the next job.

CAUSE: A problem in the printer code.

Print the printer status report:

- Take the printer off-line.
- Press PROGRAM.
- Press UP arrow until the display show UTILITY.
- Press ENTER (PROGRAM)- the display shows PRSTATUS.
- Press ENTER- the status report prints.
- Press FIRST (CLEAR)- the display shows EXIT.
- Press ENTER.

Check the printer firmware revision:

The fimware revision numbers are listed at the top of the status report. If the Interface Controller revision is 44A514600, the printer needs to be upgraded.

SOLUTION: Contact Technical Support for assistance in upgrading the printer.
