4000 Series Timing Marks
3-19-90 Pat Hennigan

Models: 4410 / 4440; 4470 / 4490 Series, All

Summary:
Belt or tractor replacement requires resetting the tractor timing marks.

Resolution:
Any time you change tractor assemblies or replace a line feed motor or belt you must verify all timing marks are in alignment. The location of the 2 timing marks are on the upper right side frame and are unique to the models 4410 / 4440 and the 4470 / 4490 printers. When looking in at the side frame use the scribe mark at the 3 o'clock position to set the upper tractor assembly timing on the 4410 / 4440 models.

When setting the timing on the 4470 / 4490 models use the scribe mark at the 4 o'clock position. Use the raised mark on the upper and lower line feed pulley gear and align with scribe marks stamped on the upper and lower side frame depending on your printer model.

There are service manuals available for reference.
