4410 / 4440  Series

4410 / 4440 "SUS" Status Code
8-29-91 Pat Hennigan

Models: 4400, All

Summary:
Printer loses data during a print job due to "SUS" status.

Resolution:

CAUSE: There is a hole in the ribbon just before the ribbon weld. When the
ribbon weld sensor detects this hole the printer goes into the S.U.S.
(SUSpend print) mode for about 6 - 8 seconds. The host should, at this time,
see the printer go busy, but it's not. The printer is not handshaking properly
with the host.

ACTION: Verify the serial interface straps are set correctly in the printer
configuration menu according to what the host system is requiring for handshake.
Parallel interface handshaking is controlled by the BUSY lead.

Note: Genicom ribbons 44A507014-G08 and G09 have the ribbon weld hole.
