4000 Series and the Intel NetPort

Summary:
PROBLEM: A GENICOM 4000 series line printer will not communicate properly when connected to an Intel Netport Express XL, Netport II print server, or NetPort Express Pro.

CAUSE: The Netport defaults to CENTRONICS MEDIUM, which has a STROBE pulse less than 500 nsec. The 4000 series are designed to filter out STROBE pulses less than 500 nsec.


Resolution:



Configure the NetPort:
-  Enter the Netport Manager
-  Highlight NETPORT
-  Choose CONFIGURE
-  Choose NETPORT HARDWARE
-  Choose PORT PARAMETERS
-  Choose CENTRONICS LOW
-  Choose OK
-  CLOSE

Power off the Netport and the printer.
Power on the Netport
When the LED on the Netport is Green, power on the printer.
