4410 / 4440 SDR Display
7-23-96 Ed Palmer

Models:

Summary:
PROBLEM: The printer display shows SDR.

Resolution:

CAUSE: The SDR error indicates a Shuttle DRive fault. The printer logic
continuously monitors the shuttle drive mechanism- if the shuttle speed is
incorrect, the SDR fault is displayed.

SOLUTIONS: The SDR can be caused by the following:

Paper jam- turn the printer power off, remove all paper, and turn on the power.

Print gap too tight- increase the print gap

Paper thickness lever incorrect- adjust the paper thickness

Loose or damaged print module- inspect the print modules

Damaged ribbon shield- remove the print modules and inspect the ribbon shield

Any obstruction in the print area- remove the print modules and ribbon shield and
inspect the print area

Shuttle drive circuit failure- will display 490, 491, 492, or 493 on power up

- The only way to clear the SDR fault is to turn the printer power off for
15 seconds, then turn the power back on.

- If the shuttle is jammed or faulty when the printer power is turned on, the
display will show 490, 491, 492, or 493. Turn off the printer power,
open the gap knob to LOAD, remove all the paper, and turn on the printer
power. If the 49x is still displayed, there may be a fault in the shuttle
	drive.
