Resolution:
The GENICOM 4490 series printers, 4490XT, 4492XT, 4590XT & 4592 XT, with serial numbers between 9609XXXXXX and 9638XXXXXX inclusive, could have a power supply board that may not perform to specifications. This power supply board, SSPS, GENICOM part number 44C510010-G01, may have been manufactured using an integrated circuit (IC) which does not meet GENICOM's specifications.

The IC in question is located at U5 on the SSPS board and is marked with TL494.

If the chip is marked with the Texas Instrument logo, (an outline of the state of Texas with a small "t" through the state), the IC is the incorrect one for this application.

If the chip has a Motorola logo (an upper case stylized "M"), the IC is the correct one for this application.

The power supply using the incorrect chip has the possibility of failing to perform satisfactorily when printing high density graphic data after several minutes. The failure of this chip could cause the power supply output transistors Q15, 16, 17, or 18 to fail. The resulting symptoms are that fuse F2 and/or F3 blow and the power supply stops functioning.

If you have a power supply (Part No. 44C510010-G01) with the incorrect chip (as described above) GENICOM will replace the circuit board with one that has the correct component.
