Revised 12/5/97 Jerry Babral

Models: 4810, 4840

Summary:
4800 Series - DataProducts Interfaces

Resolution:

* Kit Part Numbers

4810/4840
	DP-SL  DB-50		44A0785G01
	DP-SL  Winchester	44A0786G01
	DP-LL			44A0787G01	requires DP-SL kit

The Short Line (SL) kits consist of the cable assembly only. The Long Line
(LL) kit consists of the DP-LL board only, and requires the proper connector
provided by the appropriate DP-SL kit.

Unlike the 4400 product lines, the 4800 series implementation of the
Dataproducts interface kit allows for the serial interface connector to remain,
and hot-port switching is retained.

* Setting Straps.
The printer Hardware Straps are set to the proper defaults when DataProducts
emulation is selected.

* Prints Garbage After Installation
If high order ASCII characters are printed after installing a DP interface,
the data line is probably missing Data Bit 8. A pull-up resistor on the
interface board will set bit 8 high. This is typical of many older systems.
To set bit 8 to zero, set Parallel Interface Strap A8 to OUT.
