| Issue / Symptom: |
| For non-IPDS printers, use the IBM SNMP driver instead of using the Remote Output Queue/HPT method. |
| Solution/Action: |
|
LPR/LPD connection with Remote Output Queue/Host Print Transform does not provide satisfactory link control.
Offline, Paper Out, Power Off, etc. require contacting the data center to reset the link to the printer.
For link control, the SNMP functionality works extremely well with the SNMP protocol in the TallyCom adapter, or internal Ethernet interfaces. To use this you need to specify the IBMSNMPDRV driver (SYSDRVPGM = IBMSNMPDRV) in the Device description (CRTDEVPRT or CHGDEVPRT). - For Serial Printers other than the 3800 Series, use the EPLQ2550 Manufacturer Type Model (MFRTYPMDL = EPLQ2550). - For the 3800 Series, use the EPFX286 Manufacturer Type Model (MFRTYPMDL = EPFX286). Alternatively, the IBMPJLDRV works very well with the T6200/6300 line printers. Both the IBMSNMP driver and the IBMPJLDRV have been tested extensively. |
| Additional Notes/Comments: |
| TallyCom AS400 Device Description.pdf is a typical setup for a serial printer using the EPLQ2550 MFRTYPMDL |
