Connecting a LAN Attached Laser Printer to the iSeries or AS/400
6 August, 2007 Ed Palmer

Summary: Lasers printers can be attached to the IBM iSeries or AS/400 via TCP/IP by use of the printer's network interface.

Setting up the LAN Connection

Creating the Printer Description

Use CRTDEVPRT to creat the description. Enter F9 to see all parameters.

Critical parameters (parameter order may vary depending on the version of OS/400):

9035, 9045

The paper source parameters of these models do not match the HP5. The papers source parameters must be modified on the printer to match. Refer to TechNote IP-CMD-02 for details. If the parameters are not modified, the printer will probably display LOAD LETTER MBF, LOAD LETTER FRONT TRAY or a similar message.
