Intelliprint Series
Memory Options
6 Aug 2001 Ed Palmer

Summary: This note outlines the memory options available for the Intelliprint series. This includes DRAM, Flash and Hard Drive options. Recommended memory configurations are also listed.

Printer Memory (DRAM)

DRAM (Dynamic RAM) is used to expand the operating memory of the printer. Increasing DRAM can allow the use of larger paper sizes, duplexing and higher graphics resolution.

The microLasers have three slots for memory. The mL210, mL280, LN21 and LN28 ship with 16 MB, the mL320, mL401 and LNM40 ship with 32 MB of memory. A maximum of 96MB can be installed.

Available memory options are:

Not all vendors have products that meet GENICOM's requirements. The correct memory SIMMs appear as above.

Kingston no longer manufactures the Type A SIMM. SIMMs ordered by the number on the label are not the correct part.

The use of unqualified memory may cause operational issues, including random displays of
SERVICE ERROR 02 and SERVICE ERROR 03, dropping characters at random, adding square boxes to text, no display on power up, printing black pages on power up or other odd symptoms.

The 2.1 GB hard drive option is used for the storage of PostScript based fonts, graphics and overlays. PCL fonts, macros, and overlays can be stored on the hard drive and loaded into RAM on printer power up. The option is qualified to operate with PlanetPress. The drive mounts on the Intelliprint controller board.

User Flash SIMM

The 8 and 16 MB Flash SIMM options are used for the storage of PostScript based fonts, graphics and overlays. PCL fonts, macros, and overlays can be stored on the user flash and loaded into RAM on printer power up. These options are qualified to operate with PlanetPress. The SIMM mounts on the Intelliprint controller board.
