SUMMARY: To maintain image quality and proper operation, various supplies and parts of the printer are required to be cleaned and replaced periodically. This note expands and supplements the user level maintenance refered to in GEK-89470, microLaser 400 Operations. DETAILS:

Cleaning Ratings: Transfer Assembly: 500,000 pages or 3 months Fuser Assembly: 3 months Reversing Unit: 500,000 pages or 3 months Precharger Unit: 36,000 pages when the fuser cleaning roller is replaced For cleaning guidelines, refer to GEK-89470, microLaser 400 Operations, page 64. The Erase Lamp Assembly should be cleaned when the Drum is replaced, or when print quality is unacceptable. Refer to TechNote mL400-02. A toner vacuum is useful in cleaning toner- refer to TechNote Page-01.

Toner Rating: 18,000 faces at 4% toner coverage, letter size, per one bottle. Refer to GEK-89470, microLaser 400 Operations, page 31 for details on toner life. Messages: TONER LOW TONER OUT Parts: Toner Kit, LN40X-AA, contains 8 Bottles of Toner, 8 Toner Waste Bottles, 4 Fuser Cleaning Rollers. Replacement: Refer to GEK-89470, microLaser 400 Operations, page 31. Menu Reset: None.

Toner Waste Bottle Rating: The Toner Waste Bottle must be replaced when a bottle of Toner is added. Failing to replace the Waste Bottle can cause print quality problems and can damage the Drum. Refer to TechNote TechNote mL400-03.

Fuser Cleaning Roller Rating: 36,000 faces (every two toner bottles). Message: NEW CLEAN ROLLER & CLEAN PRECHARGE Parts: Toner Kit, LN40X-AA, contains 8 Bottles of Toner, 8 Toner Waste Bottles, 4 Fuser Cleaning Rollers. Replacement: Refer to GEK-89470, microLaser 400 Operations, page 36. Cleaning: Refer to GEK-89470, microLaser 400 Operations, page 71. Menu Reset: None (the front door must be opened and closed to clear the message).

Developer Rating: 114,000 faces per bottle. Refer to GEK-89470, microLaser 400 Operations, page 22 for details on developer life. Message: REPLACE DEVELOPER Parts: Developer kit, LN40X-AB, contains 2 Bottles of Developer, 1 Ozone Filter Replacement: Refer to GEK-89470, microLaser 400 Operations, page 37. Menu Reset: MENU >> ADMINISTRATION >> CONSUMABLES >> DEVELOPER. Note: If the developer is replaced to resolve quality issues, the replacement procedure must be followed.

Ozone Filter Rating: 320,000 faces (every other developer bottle). Messages: REPLACE DEVELOPER Parts: Developer kit, LN40X-AB, contains 2 Bottles of Developer, 1 Ozone Filter Replacement: Refer to GEK-89470, microLaser 400 Operations, page 43. Menu Reset: None.

Drum Unit Rating: 178,500 faces. Refer to GEK-89470, microLaser 400 Operations, page 22 for details on drum life. Messages: REPLACE DRUM UNIT Parts: Drum Kit, LN40X-AC, contains 1 OPC Drum, 1 Transfer Wire, 1 Bag of Cleaning Wipes. Replacement: Refer to GEK-89470, microLaser 400 Operations, page 45. Transfer Charger Rating: The transfer charger is replaced when the drum is replaced.
