18 Sep 2000 Ed Palmer

Summary: The Erase Lamp should be cleaned when the Drum is replaced, or when print quality is unacceptable.

Procedure:

  • Remove the Drum and store it in a light proof container. Refer to GEK-89470, microLaser 400 Operations, page 45.
  • Locate the Erase Lamp Assembly.

  • Using a soft cloth (included with a new Drum Unit), clean the Erase Lamp.
  • Clean any toner elsewhere in the printer.
  • Re-install the Drum.

A toner vacuum is useful in cleaning toner- refer to TechNote Page-01.

Prevention:

  • Toner dumping is commonly caused by not replacing the Toner Waste Bottle. Refer to TechNote mL400-03.
