Summary: In Windows Explorer, system files cannot be seen. These include filenames with the following extensions: .DLL, .SYS, .VXD, .386, .DRV.

Cause: By default, Explorer hides these system files.

Solution: To view system files:

Without Active Desktop:

• Open Windows Explorer or NT Explorer.
• Select View | Options.
• Select the View tab.
• Under Hidden Files, select Show All Files.
• Select OK.

With Active Desktop:

• Open Windows Explorer or NT Explorer.
• Select View | Folder Options.
• Select the View tab.
• Under Files and Folder | Hidden Files, select Show All Files.
• Select OK

Note: By default, the three character file extensions are hidden for file types that are registered in Windows 95. If is desired to view file extensions, enter the above options, and unselect Hide MS-DOS File Extensions For File Types That Are Registered.
