Windows NT - LPD Attached Printer is Slow or Fails

Summary: A printer is attached to Windows NT host via a LPR Port. There may be delays between jobs, or jobs may not print.

Cause: Windows NT only allows eleven TCP ports to be in use by the LPR service at one time. A port cannot be reused for a minimum of four minutes.

Solution: Configure Windows NT to use more TCP ports.
