Deleting a Printer Driver

Summary: A printer driver is upgraded, and the version does not change. This occurs even if the printer is deleted and the new driver is installed.

Cause: When the printer is deleted, not all references to the driver get removed properly. This interferes with reinstalls of the same driver, especially when updated versions are reinstalled.

Solutions:

Windows XP / 2003

The driver can be deleted by:

- Delete the printer:

- Restart the spooler:

- Delete the driver:

Windows 2000

Windows NT
